Armaan Malik rose to fame by singing "Bum Bum Bole" for the 2007 movie Taare Zameen Par at the age of 10. Since then, he has had a successful career as a playback singer, independent singer-songwriter, and has collaborated with various artists. Recently, he performed with Ed Sheeran and Marshmello during their India tours. During a recent visit to Bengaluru, Armaan shared that he feels he has turned his dreams into reality. He mentioned evolving as a singer through different phases and having ambitious musical goals for the future, such as winning a Grammy, performing at Madison Square Garden, and collaborating with artists like Charlie Puth, Zedd, and Justin Bieber. Armaan emphasized the importance of being prepared for any opportunities that come his way.
Regarding the current music scene, Armaan reflected on a time when there was a focus on creating quality music rather than just aiming for viral hits. He expressed concern about the trend of prioritizing hits over good songs, as there is no set formula for creating a hit. Armaan also raised the issue of music manipulation, stating that he has encountered songs falsely attributed to him and highlighted the need for laws to protect artists' rights and prevent technology from compromising the authenticity of music.I find it intriguing yet concerning that anyone can use my texture and voice to create a song. There should be regulations in place to safeguard artists' rights and prevent technology from diluting the authenticity of music. I believe that traditional elements like real instruments and musicians should always play a key role in music creation. Genuine collaborations can unite diverse worlds, fans, and styles. Working with another artist is thrilling, but the essential ingredient is a true admiration for their work. It's crucial to have mutual enthusiasm and respect for a successful collaboration. I have been fortunate to collaborate with many artists I admire, such as AR Rahman. It's incredible how dreams can come true through manifestation. Today, with talent and internet access, anyone, even in a remote village, can find an audience and become a star in the thriving independent music scene in India. As a playback singer, adapting to suit the actor's on-screen persona is like being a chameleon. Singing with Ed was a dream come true for A.Armaan Malik described performing with Ed Sheeran as a humbling experience. Despite Ed Sheeran's worldwide fame, he remained remarkably humble. It is uncommon to encounter someone of his caliber who retains such a grounded demeanor. Their conversations about music, particularly Indian music, were enriching, and Ed expressed a desire to collaborate with more Indian artists. Their bond grew strong, and Armaan now considers Ed Sheeran to be like a brother to him. (Armaan Malik recently delivered a sold-out show at Bharatiya City in Bengaluru).
